Hungarian Short Film ‘A Siege’ Wins Student Academy Award2018.10.17
A Siege, Hungarian István Kovács's his short film got the Bronze Student Oscar at the 45th Student Academy Awards . The 23-minute film is set in 1994, in war-torn Sarajevo, where a lonely Bosnian woman embarks on a journey during the siege to find water so she can finally wash her hair and feel attractive again before a much-anticipated date, and neither her neighbours nor sniper fire can stop her. It is the first Student Oscar after 27 years that goes to a Hungarian director. We are delighted to have been able to work on this film, shot on 16 mm film.

The jury of the International Federation of Film Critics, FIPRESCI, has awarded the International Critics' Prize to One Day at the 71st Cannes Film Festival.
