Losers wins the main prize at Moscow Film Festival
Losers, a black and white Bulgarian feature film we have just been working on, has won the main prize, the Golden St. George Prize for best film at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF).
Ivaylo Hristov’s film won not only the top award but also the Russian Film Critics Prize and the award from the jury of the Federation of Russian Film Clubs. Jury president Jean-Jacques Annaud said that Hristov’s film was “a movie we liked in all aspects – the cinematography, the actors and the direction. We came to an agreement very quickly.” The impressive black and white pictures were shot by DoP Emil Hristov.
The drama centres on four high-school students in a small provincial town. United by the belief that they are losers, they must face various challenges while their all-too-tranquil town is brought back to life by a concert being played by a famous rock band. The event shakes up the whole town giving birth to new love affairs, disappointments and complicated relationships.
