The workshop was led by János Xantus, the masters were world famous Hungarian cinematographers, Emmy- and Oscar-awarded Vilmos Zsigmond (ASC) and Emmy-awarded Elemér Ragályi (HSC). Young cinematographers from all over the world came for this course. The 16 scholars' staff were the rest of the participants.
The classes and the shootings were held in Korda Studios, the set was designed by students of the University of Theater and Film in Budapest. The dailies were processed in the Hungarian Filmlab. They used 35mm Fuji Eterna Vivid 500T which was provided by Fujifilm Hungary.
Apart from the shootings, the programme consisted of lectures, presentations, screenings, discussions where the students could ask the masters about their professional secrets.Three famous specialists,Benjamin Bergery, Nic Knowland és Michael Hammond also gave classes to the participants.
The students watched and then discussed about their illumination tests in the screening room of the Hungarian Filmlab. After that they visited our studios and laboratory, guided by Szabolcs Barta DI colorist, János Polyák head of digital studio and Péter Závorszky, production manager of the VFX department. This visit was a memorable experience for most of them, as they had never been to a traditional film laboratory and they got an answer to all their questions about post production.
According to their personal reports these two weeks working, learning and just be together was an experience that will last for a lifetime.
